 Walk with the Forest: Cultural Trekking and Conservation in Sangkhlaburi

🎯 Objectives:

🗓️ Program Overview: 3 Days / 2 Nights

🏡 Day 1: Welcome to the Mon Community & Cultural Discovery

  • Arrive at Sangkhlaburi and settle in at a Mon village homestay

  • Cultural orientation: learn basic Mon greetings and customs

  • Visit iconic sites: Mon Bridge (Uttamanusorn Bridge) and Wat Wang Wiwekaram

  • Join a local cooking class or traditional weaving activity

  • Group dinner and cultural storytelling by village elders



Day 2: Jungle Trek & Forest Conservation Activities

  • Morning trek through nearby forests with local guides

  • Learn about native plants, wildlife, and local conservation methods

  • Volunteer activity options:

    • Tree planting or seedball distribution

    • Building firebreaks or cleaning nature trails

    • Wildlife tracking or mapping community forest boundaries

  • Afternoon group reflection in nature or riverside picnic

  • Optional: overnight forest camp / return to village homestay



☀️ Day 3: Spiritual Morning & Reflection

  • Almsgiving on the Mon Bridge (Tak Bat tradition)

  • Workshop: “What I Learned from the Forest” – sharing circle

  • Farewell from the village and gift exchange with hosts

  • Depart from Sangkhlaburi with hearts full and minds inspired

jungle trekking

  The Trekks 2 days Trekking: trekking through national park, crossing river by foot and camping in the jungle or sleep in Karen traditional village and taste Karen’s food with a real family. Franky will lead you and take care of you as safety. It will take one night and two days or two night three days trekking  trip
 through the deep jungle. Franky will lead you in  trek where you'll be able to swim in the amazing water fall,climbing the mysterious dry Laiwo river, 
 life at villages,sleep at real Karen villages and taste the local food and much more.This is a hard-trek, bring comfortable shoes. Private Trekking:This is a more flexible trekking. If you would like to go on a trek for longer than 2 days  
 Franky will organize it for you. You'll see different landscapes and sleep at different real Karen villages and in the end he will bring you back to Sangklaburi. Everything made according with your time schedule and trekking experience.

 ATTENTION: Franky's jungle trekking are real trekking trough real jungle for real travellers You'll stay with Karen people and live like them,please respect their habits and try to don't shock them. Franky is a Karen, everybody knows and respect him and they will make your time with them memorable, making you feel like one of them. please try to follow the traditional way of living. Karen people are simple, generous and genuine. Your meals will be prepared by Franky himself or by "Karen mummy's" with local vegetables, fish or meat according with the availability. However if you would like to have some more refined meal you're invited to bring your food with you. Water from rivers along the treks are refreshing and very clean however for your safety is better if you fulfill your bottle with boiled water or bring some Iodine tablets. In the Jungle, nights are cold. Usually the families provide blankets but is better if you bring your sleeping bag. Most of the villages have no power, or a few from solar panel. Franky will treat you as his friend, you'll be welcomed in every village, and he will try to make your journey as easy as possible but please be a responsible trekker, carry your own belongings
